Scale

This is the largest matter recorded on this site. The FTC and the Nevada Attorney General allege the operation took more than $1.2 billion from consumers since 2018.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada in May 2025, describes a wide-ranging investment training and business venture scheme. It currently trades as IYOVIA, and has also used the brand names IM Mastery Academy, iMarketsLive, and IM Academy.

What is alleged

The FTC and Nevada allege the company and its operators used false or baseless earnings claims to persuade people to pay for financial training programmes and to buy into a multi-level marketing venture selling those same trading courses onward to others.

Named are the company, its owners Christopher Terry and Isis Terry (formerly Isis De La Torre), and officers or top salespeople Jason Brown, Alex Morton, Matthew Rosa, and Brandon Boyd.

Alleged violations: the FTC Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule, the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, and Nevada state law.

What was surrendered

The May 2026 stipulated order against the five lead defendants imposes a judgment of $795,763,490. To partially satisfy it, the defendants surrender assets valued at nearly $90 million, including:

  • eight luxury homes in New York, Nevada, Florida and Dubai
  • thirteen home lots in a development near Las Vegas
  • nineteen vehicles including Range Rovers, BMWs, a Bentley and a Rolls Royce
  • a yacht
  • jewellery including a 15-carat diamond ring and Richard Mille, Bulgari and Rolex watches

The remainder of the judgment is suspended, and becomes due in full if the defendants are found to have misrepresented their finances.

Earlier settlements with other defendants brought total judgments in the case to over $914 million, with expected total recovery above $100 million.

The arithmetic worth sitting with

More than $1.2 billion alleged taken. Somewhat over $100 million expected to be recovered.

Roughly one dollar in twelve. That ratio is the single most useful thing on this page, and it is the reason this site exists: recovery after the fact is not a remedy, and checking before paying is the only step that reliably works.

Outcome

The order bans the defendants from selling trading-training services and investment opportunities, prohibits false earnings claims, and requires a reasonable basis for any earnings claim made. A receivership and asset freeze had already been imposed in November 2025.

What is not established

Allegations in a complaint are the government’s case, not findings of fact, and a settlement resolves them without admission of wrongdoing.
