FTC alleged billing for unordered directory listings
The FTC alleged that Integration Media Inc., doing business as GoAm Media, participated in a telemarketing operation that tricked small businesses and nonprofits into paying for business directory listings they had not ordered. According to the complaints described in the release, the defendants led organizations to believe they already had a relationship with the sellers. The defendants also allegedly claimed that the organizations had agreed to purchase directory listing services and owed money for them.
The November 2011 release concerned Integration Media and a separate operation involving 6253547 Canada Inc., doing business as The Official Yellow Pages and other entities. The FTC said it was mailing 188 refund checks totaling nearly $19,000 to small businesses and nonprofits affected by the two operations. Individual payments ranged from $1.55 to $154.99, depending on how much each recipient had paid.
The release identifies Stephane LaChapelle and Integration Media as defendants and says the FTC alleged violations of the FTC Act. It does not state a separate refund total for Integration Media or GoAm Media.
What is not established
The supplied release does not allocate the nearly $19,000 refund total between the two operations. It also does not give a judgment amount or state how much Integration Media paid, so no loss or ordered-redress figure is assigned to this entry.
