The FTC alleged coffee and travel recruitment schemes
The Federal Trade Commission case page states that a case first filed in January 2020 alleged that Success By Health and four executives operated an instant-coffee pyramid scheme. The named executives were James “Jay” Dwight Noland, Jr., Lina Noland, Scott A. Harris, and Thomas G. Sacca. According to the page, the operation used false promises of wealth and income to encourage thousands of consumers to join.
An amended complaint alleged an additional pyramid scheme known as VOZ Travel. The FTC said the defendants sold VOZ Travel memberships for at least $1,000 each. In exchange, consumers were allegedly promised access to a discount travel booking platform and the ability to earn rewards by recruiting other consumers to purchase memberships. The complaint also alleged that consumers were told some VOZ Travel members would be “making $1.53 [million] per year.”
