Telemarketing offered income websites and grants
Max Results Marketing LLC and Blue Saguaro Marketing LLC were among the companies charged by the Federal Trade Commission in a telemarketing case involving money-making opportunities and grant services. The complaint also named three individuals and three other companies.
According to the FTC, telemarketers offered consumers websites linked to Amazon.com for hundreds or thousands of dollars and claimed the sites would earn thousands of dollars each month in commissions. They also offered advertising and search engine optimization. Other calls allegedly promised government or corporate grants for expenses such as home repairs, medical costs, and debt. Consumers were asked to pay thousands of dollars in advance and were told grants worth tens of thousands of dollars would arrive within 90 days. The FTC said consumers received no money from the schemes and no refunds.
Max Results Marketing was identified as doing business as Amazon.com Associates Program, Amazon Affiliate Program, Amazon Associates Central, Gera Grant, and Grant Strategy Solutions. Blue Saguaro Marketing was identified as doing business under five grant-related names.
In August 2017, the FTC announced stipulated final orders against Carl E. Morris, Jr., Stephanie A. Bateluna, Stacey Vela, and Paramount Business Services LLC. The orders imposed judgments of more than $11.8 million each, with some partially suspended after asset surrender. The release did not state a dollar value for the surrendered assets.
